This is my first time posting (after about a year of having the blog; shame on me) so I figured I should introduce myself and talk a little about what I hope this blog to become.
So allow me to properly introduce myself. My name is Kennidee and I'm a amature seamstress with a slight obsession with foxes. My goal with this blog is to write about my journey through the fashion world of lolita. Truth be told, I'm not really a lolita yet, just in spirit. But what a frilly spirit I have.
I've been interested in lolita for about 5 or 6 years now (since about 9th or 10th grade.) So why is it that I've been in to lolita this long and haven't really worn it yet? The simple answer is money; money, money, money. Of which I had none. And now I do have some. Except I have to spend it on other goodies. With not enough left over for pretty dresses and skirts.
BUT.
I do have something now that I didn't then. And that would be sewing skills.
They're not the best skills, but with time and practice I will be the best. I will use those skills to make myself pretty dresses and skirts. In fact, that's partially the goal of this blog. To sew/make lolita items and share my creations with the world. As well as to help out other "Homemade Lolitas" with building their pretty wardrobes. Because really, why spend $300+ dollars on a dress when you can learn to make 2 dresses for the same amount and still have money left over for accessories for BOTH dresses.Of course, that just may be the cheapskate in me talking.
So anyways, some of the things I'll be doing besides making pretty stuff is:
- Listing sources that homemade lolitas can use to create their wardrobes without having to learn Japanese such as patterns they can use as is or with minor alterations
- Tips on finding clothes and accessories to use with said articles
- Theme ideas that are out of the box but not too obvious (like DW fabric for a DW cord)
- Lolita lists like books, movies, music, video games; ect, ect...
Just to name a few things. I'm sure I'll come up with more over time. If you have a suggestion feel free to post it in the comments below and I'll do my best to respond.
I'll try to post at least every Saturday, if not sooner. Maybe sometimes I'll throw in a couple extra. I'm still growing, but I envision myself someday wearing poofy skirts with rocking horse shoes.
But not sweet. For myself I hate sweet. Blech. I prefer classic, casual, and country the best. (Not to say others can't wear it, I just don't think I'd look good in all that sugary fluff.)
Until next time, stay frilly my friends.
